Looking West Exhibit at Seven Arts Gallery Opens February 8

Looking West Exhibit at Seven Arts Gallery

RIDGEFIELD, CT (January 21, 2014) – Seven Arts Gallery is pleased to present Looking West, by Colorado artist Nicole Finger and Oklahoma artist Sarah Williams Hearn. The exhibit will feature hand-manipulated digital prints, ceramic frescoes, mixed-media drawings and oil paintings. The opening reception of Looking West will be held at the gallery on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 6-8pm. The exhibit, on view through March 23, is free and open to the public.

Telluride, Colorado-based Nicole Finger captures the spirit and stoic beauty of horses in various media.  Much of Finger’s childhood was spent with her father at the track and stables; upon moving to Southern California, and later to Telluride, she began painting horses and horseracing, a subject matter she addresses with intensity and a powerful attention to detail. Finger’s pieces can be found in private and corporate collections across the United States. She received a BFA from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Sarah Williams Hearn is an interdisciplinary visual artist and citizen researcher. Her work, rooted in photography, drawing, installation and participatory culture, is driven by a multitude of scientific theories. She explores the complex relationships between images and data as powerful systems of evidence and belief. Hearn has had several solo exhibitions and has participated in group shows across the West and Midwest.  She holds an MFA in Imaging Arts and Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology and a BFA in Photography from the College of Santa Fe (now Santa Fe College of Art and Design).

The intimate, minimalist gallery exhibits artists creating contemporary works on paper, paintings, photography, and works in other media. The gallery’s mission is to provide opportunity for local and regional artists, as well as those from outside the area, to share their work with art enthusiasts and buyers in southwestern Connecticut.
