FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Spring Solo Show: Tom Bennett at Seven Arts Gallery
RIDGEFIELD, CT (May 8, 2014) – Seven Arts Gallery is pleased to present our spring solo show of works by Brooklyn-based artist Tom Bennett. The exhibit will feature paintings and original monotype mixed medium works on paper. The opening reception will be held at the gallery on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 6-8pm. The exhibit, on view through June 15, is free and open to the public.
Bennett, born and raised in Ridgefield, grew up in a household of artists influenced by his father, award-winning painter and illustrator Harry Bennett. Tom grew up experimenting with art mediums and dedicated much of his youth to drawing before receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Connecticut. Bennett, who now lives and works in Brooklyn, has exhibited extensively in New York and the Northeast, as well as across the country and overseas. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the John Koch Prize for Painting.
The show at Seven Arts Gallery will include numerous of Bennett’s oil paintings, expressive and gestural, ranging from intimate portraits and figures to witty reinterpretations of Old Masters paintings.
Norwalk, CT-based artist Paul Fernandez-Carol opened Seven Arts Gallery in 2012. The intimate, minimalist gallery exhibits artists creating contemporary works on paper, paintings, photography, and works in other media. The gallery’s mission is to provide opportunity for local and regional artists, as well as those from outside the area, to share their work with art enthusiasts and buyers in southwestern Connecticut.
